I suggest you first have a look at "Help > Document" and follow the entry 
XHTML to have a short description of HTML elements.
Then you can read "Help > Browsing" to know how to navigate with Amaya
"Help > Selecting" and "Help > Creating elements" are also important as Amaya 
lets you manipulate the document structure and this is quite new for a lot of 
users.
