Oops, this is due to a typo in the install script.
We'll fix this problem in the 9.3.1 release which should be available by end 
of January.

Meanwhile, I suggest you download 
http://www.w3.org/Amaya/Distribution/amaya-doc-9.3.tgz
and install it in /usr/share/Amaya-9.3/ like that:
> su
> cd /usr/share/Amaya-9.3/
> tar xvzf $(download_path)/amaya-doc-9.3.tgz
