Hello,

if I press C-m C-p to create a row delimited by paranthesis, and then
overwrite the left paranthesis by pressing < and the right by pressing > on
my keyboard, < and > are translated to angle brackets. The problem is that
Amaya uses U+2329 (LEFT-POINTING ANGLE BRACKET) for the left angle bracket
and (probably) U+232A (RIGHT-POINTING ANGLE BRACKET) for the right angle
bracket about whom

    http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2300.pdf

says:

These are discouraged for mathematical use because of their canonical
    equivalence to CJK puncuation.

Therefore Amaya should use U+27E8 (MATHEMATICAL LEFT ANGLE BRACKET) and U+27E9
(MATHEMATICAL RIGHT ANGLE BRACKET) as replacements of < and >.

Best wishes,
Wolfgang Jeltsch
