Non-breaking space converted to space by Amaya 8.6

When I edit a page which contains non-breaking spaces (&nbsp;), then 
the non-breaking spaces are converted to normal spaces (a single 
ASCII 32 character). That should not be happening, in my opinion.

I am using Amaya 8.6 OpenGL on Windows 2000 Pro. The page is in 
XHTML 1.1, iso-8859-1 charset.
