Copy-paste weirdness

Create a new XHTML 1 strict document.
Type a single line of text, followed by [return]
Position at the beginning of the line of text.
Type SHIFT-[down arrow]
ctrl-C (i.e. [copy]) to copy the paragraph
[Arrow down] (to take you to the start of the next para)
[Paste].

It pastes all but the last character.
