Amaya cannot handle in the same way an <input type="pasword">, an
<input type="image">, an <input type="radio">, etc.
So it uses a different internal element for each input type. It's why the attribute
type is not proposed, but the type menu proposes these different element types.
Obviously, that attribute is parsed and correctly generated when the document
is saved.
