I installed Unity ( I didn't have because I upgraded Ubuntu from preceding
version) , and now I have the Amaya menu bar.
Thanks for pointing me to Unity !

I see that the menu appears only when the mouse goes in the upper right of
the window, so maybe moving the mouse in gnome also is the trick.
