"INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER LIABILITY AND THE SAFE HARBOR PROVISIONS OF THE
DIGITAL MILLENNIUM COPYRIGHT ACT OF 1998"

Who can be held responsible for wrongful acts on the Internet? If someone is
the subject of a defamatory posting on a message board and the subject goes
after an individual, what happens if the individual can't be found? What
happens if an individual uses stolen copyrighted graphics and text on a Web
site and gives false details to the Web site's Internet Service Provider
("ISP")? What happens if a Web site provides a service where central servers
can be used to swap MP3s amongst connected users? What happens if an ISP
provides hosting services and one of its customers puts up a Web site
selling counterfeit goods? In each of these cases, the wronged party may not
be able to find the individuals who truly committed the wrongs. Does that
mean that the wronged party has no recourse? Or can the wronged party go
    after the ISP?

Join Laraine Morse Ward from InfoSpace, Inc. to discuss ISP liability in
each of these situations on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. in Room 109.

Reception to Follow in Tunks Lounge
