Re: Sign Language for audio and video on the web

Hi John,

Thanks so much for the additional information.

I made several changes based on your input. The updated page is here:
 https://wai-media-guide.netlify.com/design-develop/media/sign-languages/

(A "diff" showing the changes is at: <https://github.com/w3c/wai-media-guide/commit/c1e6cc1107dac729a4fb9bd3a13e1367a10d7920#diff-94eea7cd03c5b4c338198039ccc96584> It's probably difficult to read. I'm happy to send you a list of changes or diff in an easier format.)

A few comments on previous e-mails (that are below).

* fyi, When I was looking at http://bit.ly/ASLdemo , I didn't see the checkbox. Even after you told me, I had a little trouble finding it. I added to our page:
"Make sign language video(s) easy to discover and use.
- Make it easy to get to the video with sign language and to the video without sign language.
- For example, directly underneath the media player, include a large visible toggle button and/or labelled image for the sign language videos(s). [gold button with sign language icon and "Auslan"]

* Just a minor note, I wouldn't call a toggle for getting a video with an ASL signer or a video without the ASL signer "turning sign on/off". :-) When I select or deselect the checkbox, it goes to the start of the other video. Maybe "toggle between the video with or without sign"? Although I'm not sure that makes it clear enough that you're going to go to the beginning of the other video, not the other video at the same timeframe.

Thanks again for your contributions!

Best,
~Shawn

Millions of people who are not completely deaf, even those using assistive technology, need to communicate via sign language.
