Re: ALT revisited

Hi Dave--

One simple extension/documentation of the alt tag would be to specify how
"decorative" images should be handled in non-image environments.

A large number of WWW pages use images for realizing visual effects that have
no semantic value (most users who can see would probably be equally happy to
nuke them)
--a prime example is "blank.gif"
for a background color or "line.gif" for a stylized line.
