Intent of Success Criterion 2.7.7 :
Setting up accessibility requirements may be a very complex and
time consuming task for some users. Some users hire assistive
technology professional trainers to do their system setup. Schools and
universities need to maintain accessibility settings across multiple
machines. Users who have spent time customizing accessibility
preferences to meet their requirements need easily migrate preference
setting to another compatible device. Accesssibiliy features are the
features required to meet UAAG 2.0 Principles 1, 2 & 3 [check for
exceptions]
Examples of Success Criterion 2.7.7 :
Lori is a rehabilitation specialist who works with clients to customize
their electronics and assistive technology to their needs. She sets up
a new system for Ray, and saves a backup of the accessibility setting
for Ray and for herself. She keeps electronic backup of her clients
configurations that she can quickly email to them if they lose their
settings.
Ray is blind and uses a screenreader to on his desktop and the voice
application on his phone. He sets up the web-based email application
accessibility preferences on a mobile device. These preferences are
reflected in the desktop version of that web-based email application.
Trisha is a 4th grader with low vision. When she goes to different
classrooms in her school, she carries a USB stick with her accessibility
settings so she and her teachers do not have to use class-time
customizing her computer.
