RE: lang tag and alt text

Make sure the JFW setting for adjust speaking based on language is set. You
can get to it with ins+v if it is not set, it will not switch languages. If
it is set, it uses a different TTS language.

Subject: lang tag and alt text

Hi all,

We have an interesting case where we want to honor change in page language
using the lang tag for some image alt text which is in German.

The image link can be found on the Mayo Clinic Proceedings home page
<https://mayoclinicproceedings.com/> .
Look under the heading level 2 with text Stamp Vignette.
The graphic is a German postage stamp honoring cardiologist Werner
Forssmann. The stamp contains a picture of Werner, a medical image, and
some German text for the value of the stamp, etc.

My thought is to wrap the <img> tag with a <div lang="DE">

Wondering if anyone can confirm this approach below is sound and if not
providing an alternative technique.
When I tested this using JAWS 17 the alt text was not announced in what I
consider a German accent.

Thanks,
Ted
