I believe Chris Heilman had good response from disabled users regarding his "easytube" player: http://www.wait-till-i.com/2008/06/12/making-youtube-easier-and-more-accessible/ I can't recall where I read it, but I seem remember him posting that a few blind users had emailed/contacted him and said it was much easier to use. Might be a good starting point to contact him and see what he learned. Hope this is helpful.
