If you want to respond to a message, could you please respond to that
message - and not to someone else's reply? It makes it rather
difficult to follow a thread and breaks the threading capability of
most decent email clients and mail archives.

That seems to be taking things in the opposite direction to David
Woolley's comments. "Main content" is part of a page, and the user
wants to "go to" it. "Main content" isn't *doing* anything (such as
sorting or editing) to the page.
