The whole question is based on two false premises:  that you should control
the width of the text and that pixel count determines line length.

In the end, both equate to violations of the guideline that you should
not use absolute units in dimensions.

My feeling is that max-width should be about 60em and the actual width
should be the balance of the available screen.
