The HCI department of FIT has a world-wide reputation for its work on
user-adapted Human-Compter Interaction. We currently focus our research
effort on user-tailored information environments.

Within this field we presently have a job opening to be filled as soon as
possible for research and development in:

Assistive Technologies

We are looking for a person who will design and implement innovative
concepts for adaptive and adaptable user interfaces compensating handicaps
and impairments of disabled and elderly endy-users with special needs.
Results will have to be published and presented nationally and
internationally to audiences both in industry and academia. The job
requires readiness for multidisciplinary research along the borders of
Computer Science and Human Sciences and offers a lot of opportunities to
realise own ideas.

Qualifications:

o Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
o Solid knowledge of English language, some working knowledge of German.
o Experience in the management of software projects and cooperation in
international joint projects
o substantial theoretical and practical work in the areas of
- HCI with emphasis on Assistive Technologies
- Usability and accessibility standardization
- User modeling and user interface adaptation
- Software design and implementation (esp. object-oriented design,
interoperability and communication issues)
- development environments and tools for the World-Wide Web

Salary is based on the German BAT IIa or Ib salary scales (depending on
qualification and experience). [As an indication: the annual gross salary
BAT IIa for a person of 31 years, married, 1 child, will be about 80,000 DM]

The initial contract will be for 2 years; a prolongation for one more year
can be arranged.
