Riiiight. Wasn’t thinking about font size when I found 3.8 or 4.17 to be too low. So it is too low, but not too far off…
The text I was saying is low contrast (e.g. “tools” on getting started page) is 28pt computed so only needs to be 4.5:1 (but isn’t quite there).

Affirmative. aXe is checking for WCAG 2.0 A and AA.
That text (h2) is considered large. font size: 21.0pt, font weight: normal
So at AA it is only required to have a 3 to 1 contrast ratio.
Of course...requirements are higher at AAA (so it would require 4.5 to 1).
