RE: Report from Silver sub-group on the Options for Designing Silver

Thank you for sharing. The process seems to focus on the needs of those using WCAG to implement or test for accessibility. This is very important -- but in my opinion any research should also examine the needs of users with disabilities to uncover areas/gaps/situations that are currently not addressed. Clearly we won't be able to fit in everything from our different task forces in WCAG 2.1 so there will likely be items to fold into the next WCAG from those efforts.

As an another example, when the MATF set about to create criteria around touch (pointer) target size we found insufficient research on the subject when it comes to people with disabilities. There have been some studies and the researchers have been helpful but some key details were omitted. So, ideally it would be great if we could collaborate with researchers now so in the interim research can be performed that provides the details we need to create standards.

Hello, all. Just a quick note to let you know that the design-driven option is more fully developed and ready for review.

Best wishes for a productive meeting!

We created four different options for the process of designing Silver based on different goals. We expect that the WCAG WG will prefer one option over the others, but there may be some mix-and-matching.

The difference between the options is the way the different methods are implemented. For more detail on the Phases and Methods see this wiki page:
