Going back to the original point that David made about explicitly saying that a mobile version CAN'T treat the desktop version as an alternate (which I don't believe is the right way to go about it, provided that the mobile version does have at least a link to the desktop version, as per point 4 of "alternate"), it seems then that (also in light of the comments about different responsive views) there needs to be a generic additional note/reminder "somewhere" in WCAG 2 along the lines of "If a site provides different views/layouts depending on factors outside of the user's control, such as screen size, device type, user agent, etc, each of these views/layouts needs to be accessible, or offer a mechanism to switch to an accessible alternative version (as per https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/#conforming-alternate-versiondef)" Thoughts?
