Well the following page has a date picker table. Only active dates are links. Link for prev month is available. Col headers too are marked up as TH.

These can be developed  just by using standard HTML and JavaScript. Such a calendar allows everyone to determine what day a particular date falls on, whether it is available or not etc. And of course everyone can directly enter the date into an edit box without glancing at the calendar if one chooses to.
