Thank you Gregg. Sorry, I combined what Yvette originally proposed with your response. I will state the conclusion clearly: > Now I am confused as to what the original suggestion was. WCAG 2 must make it explicit that (for html at least) validity is required as a necessary component of any success criteria that uses "can be programmatically determined". It might be possible to achieve this outside of the success criteria, but it needs to be in the Guidelines someplace. This belongs in the third list of alternatives or variations you requested.
