Here is a good overview of how to use OPTGROUP properly, what it looks like
when it is supported in a particular browser, and what may happen when it
is not.

http://www.tantek.com/HTML4/OPTGROUP.html

I shake in my shoes imagining collecting information for every browser and
assistive technology for every element and attribute, yet if we had this as
a template and asked people to submit different pieces of it (ala the
database that we discussed at the face to face meeting) perhaps it would be
doable. It would also be really cool if we could incorporate info from
existing compatibility tables like those for style sheets at webreview.com
and html at www.htmlcompendium.org. Do I hear a good use of RDF/XML? <grin>
