EOWG Introduction

Hello everyone,
My name is Kris Anne Kinney, and I just started working at ETS in July as the Accessibility Specialist in our R&D group dedicated to Accessibility. I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself to the group, as I have been a member of the group for a week or two, but just attended my first webinar last Friday, October 7th.

Before coming to ETS, I worked for 16 years in Higher Education IT, at William Paterson University and then The College of New Jersey. Web Accessibility wasn’t part of my job at either place, but using Assistive Technologies to support students was part of my work. It was there that I developed a desire to help anyone, regardless of ability, achieve their dream of higher education. I was lucky enough to work with the department of Special Education, Language and Literacy to support all of their initiatives and grant programs that were part of the School of Education at TCNJ.

Web Accessibility and WCAG guidelines only became part of my life and my job when I started at ETS in July. As someone who has not been tied closely to them trying to learn them has proved to be interesting. When my boss mentioned this group I thought it would be perfect for two reasons. One, to help me better understand the standards, but also to help people, like me, who are coming into this with new eyes, to have an easier time grasping the standards, how it applies to them, and why the guidelines are so important.

I am really looking forward to being part of the group and working with all of you.

Thank you,
Kris Anne
