Sorry, forgot in my previous mail: Maybe you mess ds:Reference/@URI with 
the relative namespaces: This here is forbidden:

<someElement xmlns="logo-text.gif" />

Because this namespace is a relative one and canonicalization of something 
like this must raise an error.
