Confusing "reset password" mechanism

Dear all

I found the "reset password" mechanism to be very confusing.

In fact it works for me only if I type the new password by hand.

It doesn't work if I paste it into the form; pasting shows the same
eight bullets as typing in the password, but the "Reset" button remains
inactive.

I'm using iceweasel 24.4.0 on Debian GNU/Linux 7.3.
