The page at
  http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/goodclassnames

doesn't show the dt display quite right in Opera 7.23 (on Linux).

Problem summary:
the text rises above the background-filled area

Experimenting:
 1- a top-margin of 0 fixes the text/background alignment
2- removing "display: inline-block;" also fixes the alignment but loses
the nice inline width-limit.

I suspect (this version of) Opera may have some margin/padding/border
calculation problems, as I have also been seeing strange effects of
borders disappearing -- especially exaggerated by using Opera's zoom
feature at less than "100%".
