Open position at SIRIUS/Univ. of Oslo on semantic technologies and ontology-driven information systems: constraints and validation

A position as PhD Research fellow is available at the SIRIUS Centre at
the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo, Norway

The fellowship period is 3 years. Candidates may be offered one
additional year by the Department of Informatics; the 4 years position
then entails a compulsory work load of 25% that consists of teaching and
supervision duties.

The candidate's work will be in semantic technologies and
ontology-driven information systems. More specifically, the goal will be
to investigate different approaches to constraints and validation
(SHACL, ShEx, ICL, epistemic logic, ...) and

  - their use in driving user interfaces like data entry forms
  - their interaction with ontologies (consistency etc.)
  - their interaction with methods for generating semantic data (R2RML,
OTTR templates)
   - their interaction with query execution
   - operations on constraints like unions of constrained datasets,
differences between constraints, etc.

Concrete use cases will come from industrial applications involving
large semantic data sets in SIRIUS partner companies.

It is desired that the candidate has background and experience that
include theory and application of:

   - Ontology-based system
   - Logic and reasoning
   - Databases
