Joint Workshops C3GI * ISD4 * SCORE
Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy

--- Call for papers and extended abstracts ---

Not yet certain about how you want 2018 to end? We have the answer!
Join us in Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, in mid-December for 2 days of joint
workshops
focusing on creativity, cognition, and computation: C3GI, on computational
creativity, ISD4, the 4th Image Schema Day, together with the
Bremen-Bolzano
research collaboration SCORE on cognitive robotics. Three exciting
interconnected events for the price of one!

Submissions and expressions of interested are invited in each of the
three areas and for synergistic combinations:

C3GI: We invite papers that make a scientific contribution to the fields of
creativity research, computational creativity, idea generation and/or
artificial general intelligence. Possible topics range over theoretical
studies of human creativity, inventive capacities and intelligence. Papers
proposing computational models for these capabilities are welcome, as well
as
application-based reports from fields like design, architecture or the arts.
Studies of systems and software supporting and/or guiding humans
in creative or inventive acts are also encouraged.

ISD4: The Image Schema Day 4

The image schema day is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of
conceptual
primitives such as image schemas, conceptual dependency, semantic primes
and affordances.
Originating from cognitive linguistics image schemas was introduced as a
connection
between the embodied experiences and metaphoric expressions found in
natural language,
the arts and analogical reasoning. Later research on artificial
intelligence started
to investigate image schemas as a potential stepping stone towards a
solution to the
symbol grounding problem. Regardless of discipline, the workshop accepts
submissions
on the topic of image schemas and similar notions, including but not
limited to:

- Image schemas in metaphors or concept invention
- Formal representation of conceptual primitives
- Image schemas in design and visual arts
- Embodied cognition and cognitive development

SCORE: Score is a research cooperation between the University of Bremen,
Germany,
and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, covering topics related to
integrating cognitively inspired knowledge representation, embodied
simulations, as well as ontology,
into cognitive robotics. Interactions with image schema research and
creativity are
particularly encouraged.
