Engineering of the Web of Things is a cross-disciplinary research area that interests both engineers of the World Wide Web and researchers of the Internet of Things and Web of Things. Web technologies (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, Ajax, PHP, Ruby) can be used to build applications involving smart things, on the other hand well-known web mechanisms are available to interact with and share these devices.
This calls for architectural styles and patterns that allow real-world objects to be part of the World Wide Web. The aim of this Special Issue is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in architecting the Web of Things; of particular interest are contributions related to the subject at different levels, from modelling and design to engineering. Foundational contributions, as well as experiments of concrete applications, are sought.

Topics of interest:

- Software architectural styles and patterns for connecting objects to the World Wide Web

- Engineering smart objects on the web

- Semantic web and Linked open data

- Web of Thing and Internet of Everything

- Challenges for Big Data and Internet of Things applications

- Architectures and frameworks for connection of smart devices

- Survey and comparative studies

- Other topics relevant to Web of Things
