The Department of Informatics of the School of Computing and Engineering has an international reputation for its research in artificial intelligence (AI) in areas of knowledge representation and the semantic web. We are expanding our work in the application of such methods to the intelligent processing of heterogeneous and dynamic data sources, e.g. in smart city applications and remote health monitoring, and we are seeking a Research Assistant to help support this research program.

You will be expected to assist in the design, implementation and experimentation activities, supporting research projects in smart city or/and remote health monitoring within the University's Centre for High Performance Intelligent Computing. You will be expected to possess a PhD in a related area of computer science, or have equivalent experience, along with a good honours degree in computing or a related subject and excellent programming skills.. An understanding of methods and techniques in AI, particularly in knowledge representation, rule systems or semantic web/linked open data technologies, are also desirable. Limited involvement in teaching activities is also expected.
