Call for Applications

2nd International Summer School on Semantic Computing

July 25-31, 2010

at the

University of California, Berkeley

co-sponsored by IEEE, Institute of Semantic Computing and STI International

Semantic computing is currently emerging as a new discipline that integrates
representations, methods and techniques from areas as diverse as multimedia
(computer vision, speech processing), natural language processing, semantic
technologies, software engineering, and many others, with the goal of
creating new applications and services that connect intuitively formulated
user-intentions with the content and meaning of data.

This summer school will provide an introduction to these areas and their
contributions to semantic computing to senior undergraduate and graduate
students. Researchers and educators with a wide range of experience will
present established as well as latest-hour results, as for example presented
in the IEEE conferences on semantic computing. The tutorials will be
complemented by keynote talks by renowned experts in the areas of formal
semantics, semantic technologies, multimedia and natural language
processing.

The summer school is planned as a 6-day event taking place on the campus of
the University of California, Berkeley.

Important Dates:
* May, 1: Application deadline
* May, 15: Notification of acceptance/Registration opens
* June, 15: Registration completed
* July, 25: School starts
