RE: geotechnologies, marine spatial planning and semantic web

Check with Dr. Raza Abidi (http://web.cs.dal.ca/~sraza/projects.htm) at Dalhousie University. He is leading a large scale project titled "Platform For Ocean Knowledge Management" which uses semantic web technology on geo data.

Subject: geotechnologies, marine spatial planning and semantic web

Which European Union or other research programs focus on or deal with consuming linked data from the domains of geotechnologies as applied to marine spatial planning?

Applications would be, a.o.. using GPS, remote sensing or GIS data for coastal zone management or management of coastal and marine ecosystems (which include marine protected areas)?

I am looking in particular at combining data from different geographical regions like the wider Caribbean, South-East Asia and the wider Pacific region.
