Re: Some FOAF services

Hi Luigi,

Thanks. The foaf work we are doing at Garlik is ongoing, and yes
agreed that searching for a person URI among other things would be
cool. As a first attempt we thought that out of all of your
identifiers, the person URI tends to be the longest (am perhaps the
most obscure), which requires the most work from the user, i.e. it is
easier to remember http://danbri.org/ (foaf:homepage) than http://danbri.org/foaf.rdf#danbri
. And as people are starting to use other rdf fragments than the what
seems to be the default #me[1], we would relieve the burden of having
to remember yet another URI. Also given the fact that foaf files can
move, searching for IFPs seemed a sensible approach. So, given that I
have had a foaf file at the UoS, http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mmt04r/foaf.rdf
whilst a student there, doesn't mean that it will be there for ever.
Its true that in hindsight I should have got my own domain from the
outset and yes cool uri's dont change, but hey I was a student, the SW
was in its infancy, and had great (free) hosting facilities at my
department.

And secondly, as it stands you would have ping our service again, this
in turn re grabs the document and updates the given model in our KB.

Thanks for the feedback,

Mischa
