OK. now I'm confused.
Since
    Thing  type  Class;
then Thing is a Class and an Individual.

It's hard for me to find the specific statements I want in the volumes
of W3C documents.
It seems to me that I recall seeing
    Class  subClassOf  Class;
Is it also true that
    Class  type  Class;
???

I would guess that if we put everything together, we'll
again find that
    Thing  equivalentClass  Class;
And is there such a thing as
    Thing  equivalentIndividual  Class;
???
