British Telecommunications PLC - Student Placement Opportunities

BT is offering 2 short term Industrial placements for undergraduate/postgraduate students at its world class research headquarters Adastral Park, located in Ipswich, UK . The placements will be in the Next Generation Web group. The group has a strong track record of research in the area of semantic technology: BT currently coordinates the SEKT EU 6FP project (http://www.sekt-project.com) and is a participant in DIP (http://dip.semanticweb.org)

The placements will be 6-9 months long running from 1/4/2006-31/12/2006 (actual duration and start time negotiable upon acceptance) The work will involve the design and development of semantic web technologies within a number of EU funded and internal projects.

Undergraduate placements
------------------------ 
The applicant must be undertaking a computing related degree (e.g. Computer Science, Software Design) and have completed at least 2 years of study in that degree. Experience in programming  is essential  (preferably in Java)  and any experience in Semantic Web technologies (e.g RDF, OWL, WSMO) is highly beneficial. 

Undergraduates will be paid weekly, pro-rata based on a gross yearly salary of £13,520 (Euro 19,600)

Postgraduates placements
------------------------ 
The applicant must have completed a computing related degree (e.g. Computer Science, Software Design). Experience in programming is essential  (preferably in Java) and any experience in Semantic Web technologies (e.g. RDF, OWL, WSMO) is highly beneficial.

Postgraduates will be paid weekly, pro-rata based on a gross yearly salary of £16,120 (Euro 23,300)
