Hello,
I believe the xpath() scheme should be restored. The vast majority of
XPath expressions that are likely to be used for XPointer are equally
valid XPath 1 and 2 (and 3!).
I suggest that the description of the xpath() scheme should indicate
that implementations are free to use any version of XPath they wish
and it's the author's responsibility to use only expressions that are
valid across all versions of XPath.
