Request to approve publication of first WD of XLink 1.1

The XML Core WG plans to request publication of 
  XML Linking Language (XLink) Version 1.1
whose latest editor's draft is currently available at
http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/xmlcore/xlink11/
as a First Working Draft within the next week or two.

This email is a request to the Director (and/or designates)
to approve this first WD publication.

The URL cited above is for the most recent Member-only 
version of the specification, dated 7 April 2004.

This specification's Requirements Document is available as
a WG Note at:
http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/NOTE-xlink10-ext-20050127/

The WG's decision to request publication as a First Working Draft
is expected to be taken during a teleconference on 20 April 2004.

The Director's (and/or designates) approval to publish as a 
First WD is hereby requested.

SCHEDULE

We expect to send in our publication request around April 22
for a publication date around April 26.

XML Linking Language (XLink) Version 1.1

Abstract
--------
This specification defines the XML Linking Language (XLink) 
Version 1.1, which allows elements to be inserted into XML 
documents in order to create and describe links between 
resources. It uses XML syntax to create structures that 
can describe links similar to the simple unidirectional 
hyperlinks of today's HTML, as well as more sophisticated links.
