Dear Advisory Committee Representatives,

I am pleased to announce Jeff Pan (University of Aberdeen) and Raphaël
Troncy (CWI Amsterdam) as the co-chairs for the new W3C Multimedia
Semantics Incubator Group [1].

Jeff and Raphaël are both experts in the field. Together, they are
co-editors of the W3C SWBPD WG's Working Draft "Image Annotation on the
Semantic Web" [2] and organizers of next week's First International
Workshop on Semantic Web Annotations for Multimedia (SWAMM) [3] at the
World Wide Web Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. More information
about the chairs can be found on Jeff's [4] and Raphaël's [5] home pages.

The new Incubator Group is chartered to show how metadata
interoperability can be achieved by using Semantic Web technologies
to integrate existing multimedia metadata standards. Using the WWW2006
conference and SWAMM workshop as the informal kick off, the group plans
to starts its work on their public mailing list public-xg-mmsem@w3.org
[6] and their public web page [7].

We welcome you to join the XG [8] and participate in this interesting work.

Best Regards,

Steve
