Minutes of 10-Mar-2011 F2F meeting

Dear MAMI-XG members,

Attached please find the minutes of our 2nd F2F meeting on 10 Mar.

With my best regards,
Nobu.

= MAMI-XG F2F Meeting Minutes =

* Date: 10 March 2011
* Time: 10:30-11:30 JST (GMT+9)
* Place: NEC Tamagawa Plant(Japan) N311 meeting room

== Attendees ==
* Present
Masuo(NTT), Matsukura(Fujitsu), Kamei(NEC), Yamada(NEC), Shiraishi(NEC)
* Observers
Hashimoto(NEC)
* Regrets
N/A
* Chair
Shiraishi(NEC)

== Summary ==
* Survey of video/image analysis engines and SDKs
- Existing standards for video/image analysis (such as MPEG-7, ONVIF)
define data formats in very detail. (ex. amount of characteristics of
images)
- Many SDKs provide their analytical functions with their proprietary
API. They might aim to provide their own (competitive) analytical
function with their proprietary API.

* MAMI use cases
- Environmental load reduction is one of the most important use cases.
ITU-T FG-Smart is a possible candidate for collaboration.

== Action Items ==
N/A

== Next meeting ==
TBD

== Discussions ==
(TM: Masuo, RM: Matsukura, OH: Hashimoto, HY: Yamada, NS: Shiraishi)

=== 1. Video/image analysis engines and SDKs survey report ===
HY presented the survey report of video/image analysis engines and SDKs.

* ONVIF mainly defines the specification for video camera control.
They did some interoperability test among several video cameras with
ONVIF.(RM)

* ONVIF also defines the specification of metadata of images taken by
video camera.(HY)

* Existing standards for video/image analysis(such as MPEG-7, ONVIF)
define in very detail. (ex. amount of characteristics of images)(HY)

* Many SDKs provide their analytical functions with their proprietary
API. They might aim to provide their own (competitive) analytical
function with their proprietary API.(HY)

* In past project, our team discussed the model for indoor trajectory.
We discussed how to express relative coordination for indoor areas.
We might need similar discussion for office area trajectories.(RM)
-> In TPAC2010, I attended the F2F meeting of W3C Geolocation WG.
The discussion was mainly focused on the vocabularies for global
address, such as city/street address vocabularies. (NS)

* MAMI is the framework for describing analysis data universally.
We will refer other standard specifications for specific domains. (NS)

=== 2. MAMI use cases ===
NS presented the analysis of MAMI use cases.

* Environmental load reduction is one of the most important use cases.
ITU-T FG-Smart is a possible candidate for collaboration.(OH)

* Currently, FG-Smart is not be in the phase of use cases discussion.(TM)
-> We want to spread our discussion globally by collaborating with FG-Smart.(OH)

* Is there any discussions about Smart Grid in W3C?(RM)
-> No explicit discussions about Smart Grid are found in W3C.
There are several discussions about Smart Grid in several W3C domestic
meeting in Japan.(NS)
-> I joined W3C Media Fragments WG (MFWG) and input several use cases to
MFWG including trajectory analysis, which may relates Smart Grid from
the aspect of environmental load reduction. These inputs to MFWG are the
requirements for the next version of MFWG spec, because the current
version of MFGW specification is now in LCWD. (NS)
