Re: Fwd: Call for Workshop Proposals - ICWE 2009: 9th International Conference on Web Engineering

To be more specific...what do others think about:

1) Helping to organize the workshop, i.e. serving on the program committee,
and

2) actually attending, preparing a paper, etc...

If we can get enough (2-3?) positive votes for the above from the XG then
it may make sense to go ahead with a proposal otherwise I'd say not...

Thanks, Charlie

This looks like a very good fit...one question will be whether people have
adequate support for travel given the current economic situation, but I'd
have no problem getting a proposal out by Monday.

What do others think??? Charlie

This just landed in my mailbox (pretty late: the deadline is monday). Would
it be interesting to propose a workshop here? It would seem that RWAB fits
the scope of the conference nicely, and if we can get enough speakers it
could be an interesting workshop. Only last years' proceedings I could find
online, and there were 2 workshops, one with 3 papers, one with 11. So the
range is rather wide:-)

Main question, I guess, is whether anyone is willing to chair this. The
main issues would probably be available time to spend on it, and whether we
have a large enough network to get speakers (I definitely don't). And, of
course, whether there's a chance that we can get the proposal out by
monday.

            Call for Workshop Proposals

Deadline for the submission of proposals: January 12, 2009

ICWE 2009: 9th International Conference on Web Engineering,
            June 24-26 2009,
            San Sebastian, Spain
            <http://icwe2009.webengineering.org>
            --------------------------------------------------------

ICWE 2009 invites proposals for workshops to be held in
            conjunction
with the conference, related to the ICWE topics. Submissions of
workshop proposals focusing on new emerging topics are also
            more than
            welcome.

The organizer(s) of approved workshops will be responsible for
            advertising
their workshop, for the reviewing process for their workshop's
            papers,
and for the collection of camera-ready copies of accepted
            papers (verifying
that they comply with the formatting rules), as well as
            preparing own
proceedings (we encourage workshop organizers in particular to
            consider
open sites for on-line proceedings such as http://CEUR-WS.org).
            Organizers
(including co-organizers) are expected to attend their entire
            workshop
and to provide a summary of the event, for presentation to ICWE
            audience.

The conference organizers will arrange a special track for
            submissions
of the workshop papers under general easychair account for ICWE
            2009.

            Local organization provides first-class facilities
(e.g. wifi all around, good meals, nice scenery and the like).

The workshop may be cancelled if the number of submissions is
            low.

            ---------------------------------------------------------
            Submission instructions
Format: The proposal should be submitted in PDF and cover the
            following points:
            - Workshop title, length (1 day, 1/2 day).
            - Organisers (PC chairs, other organisers who will be present
            at the
            workshop
or are otherwise involved, including the person responsible for
            the web
site and communications). Please include names, addresses,
            affiliations,
and indicate who is the main responsible person. The submission
            should
include a one-paragraph biographical sketch for each organizer,
            describing relevant qualifications and experience.
            - Purpose: How does the focus of the workshop fit to the main
            conference
and how it will serve the ICWE community? What are the main
            goals?
            - List of the workshop topics.
            - Organization of the workshop. Include any special requirement
            on
            infrastructure and room layout.
            - List of PC members.
            - An estimate of number of papers to be accepted, and number of
            attendees.
If applicable, short information on previous editions of the
            workshop
series (this should include attendance information).
            - Short information on your plans for advertizing your workshop
            and making
            it highly visible.
