Generating Acknowledgement Appendices (was FW: RE: Updated CR Drafts of WS-Policy 1.5 Framework and Attachment Speci fications

Paul and Chris,

I am reporting on behalf of the editorial team ...

At the webMethods F2F, editors discussed how to update Acknowledgements appendices in technical specifications.

The content for the Acknowledgements appendices originate from two files:

1. 'acknowledgements-curent.txt'
2. 'acknowledgements-old.txt'

Files 1 and 2 are partially auto generated. There is a manual step. Manual data entry is needed to adjust the affiliations in file 2 because the WG database does not retain affiliations for former members of the WG.

Editors considered the following three options:

a) Update files 1 and 2 when a member joins or leaves the WG. When an editor builds the drafts (anytime), the build script will auto update the Acknowledgement appendices using the content from files 1 and 2. This is the 'always' up to date option.

b) Update files 1 and 2 prior to building the drafts for the WG. When an editor builds the drafts for delivery, the build script will auto update the Acknowledgement appendices using the content from files 1 and 2. This is the 'just in time' up to date option.

c) Update files 1 and 2 prior to building the production documents for publication. Felix owns this task as part of publication. This is the 'status quo' and the most optimal one. Per production steps, Felix mentioned that chairs will have the option to review the production drafts (as they are being staged) prior to publication.

Given the amount of manual data entry involved, Felix and the editorial team recommends option c) for updating the Acknowledgement appendices [1]. If you have a different preference, please let the editors know.

I wonder if one of the editors would mind updating the Acknowledgements appendix in both documents so that it more faithfully represents the current membership of the WG [1]?
