The editors of the media-type note suggest that issue 162 [1] should be closed. This is a left over issue from the first draft [2] and subsequently resolved on task force concall on April 19th to allow IANA media type token values to indicate media types. The rationale is already explained in the first text draft [3] and restated below. It is observed that there is already machinery and implementations for recognizing IANA media type tokens for the web. IANA tokens would already be supported by the underlying infrastructure that the web services would rely on. Therefore the note do not need to address supporting other types of values.
