RE: Poll on teleconferences

Hi All,

Let’s introduce myself due to intro loop!! I’m Jonghong Jeon(Jonathan Jeon) and I’m working for ETRI(Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute)[1] which is big governmental research institute in Korea.

Since from 2003 to now, I am participating various SDOs - W3C, OMA, OASIS, oneM2M, OIC.

My major interesting is focused on developing the future web core technology. Currently, I'm developing a web of thing application framework (named as WoT.js) for open source hardwares (e.g: arduino, beglebon black, rasberry pi, Edison) [2][3]. I hope I can announce it as one of new open source project before June.

And I’m developing also Hybrid Web Application Platform (named as HyWAI[4]) that implementing many advanced system level web APIs such as Web Bluetooth API[5], Web NFC, WiFi API.

I am also interested in future WoT issues something like web based device management, advanced web protocol for WoT, web technology for non-screen devices and small wearable devices, low level system Web APIs.

Hopely, I think I can make collaborations and contributions with many other IG members in this group.

Best Regards,

--- Jonathan Jeon [6]

Hello,

Just a quick introduction before tomorrow’s teleconference.
I am Radim Zemek, and I work at one of Orange’s international labs, Orange Labs Tokyo. I work on connected car, wearables and IoT topics, and I discovered WoT when I was looking into technologies for interaction with IoT for the end user. I am interested in most of IoT aspects, especially discovery, architecture and security.

I look forward to the call tomorrow.
Best regards,
Radim

Hi everyone,

My turn to get into the intro loop! I'm Dominique Guinard, I'm the CTO and co-founder of EVRYTHNG (https://evrythng.com/) a platform providing digital identities and Web APIs for millions of real-world things since 2011.

Before that, together with Vlad Trifa, I co-founded the http://webofthings.org initiative and workshop series in 2007 (http://webofthings.org/events/wot/) with the aim of promoting the use of Web technologies to build the application layer of the IoT. This was also the topic of my research (https://scholar.google.ch/citations?user=rVnhmMIAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao) while at Lancaster University, ETH and MIT, leading to my PhD on a Web of Things application architecture (http://webofthings.org/2011/12/01/phd-web-of-things-app-archi/).

Having promoted the essence of what this group is about for a while now we are thrilled by the perspective of centralising the efforts and of course very interested in taking an active part in it!

Hello,

I introduce myself as well. My name is Lionel Médini and I work as a teacher and researcher in Web technologies in the LIRIS lab (university of Lyon, France). I am already involved in the French-funded ASAWoO project (http://liris.cnrs.fr/asawoo/) that aims at designing "avatars" as software representations of objects, exposing semantically annotated restful services to clients and collaborators. In W3C, I am involved in University of Lyon's bid to host WWW2018. My research interests are in building efficient client-based semantic architectures and - in the WoT context - in adapting reasoning capabilities to multi-layers (object/gateway/cloud) architectures. I will be very interested in participating in the group work and among others, in the specification of the chartered high-level architecture for the WoT.

Both times proposed for the calls are fine for me.

Best,

Lionel Médini.

Hello,
Just a quick introduction. I am Edoardo Pignotti and I currently work as a researcher at Nominet UK which I recently joined. My background is on Semantic Web Technologies and AI and I am particularly interested in provenance of information, data protection/privacy, data quality and policies. Prior to joining Nominet, I was involved in a number of academic IoT-related project in the areas of transport, logistics and healthcare.
In the past I have also been involved in other W3C activities and I will be very interested to contribute to the Web of Things effort.

I am based in Oxford, United Kingdom and the proposed times for the conference calls are both fine for me.

All the best,

Edoardo

Hi, folks,

I am involved mostly in ontologies and the Semantic Web (having contributed to the original W3C OWL effort), AI, knowledge representation/reasoning, and mostly federal government applications of those, including currently future semantic electronic healthcare record issues. But I am also very interested in IoT and issues with ontologies/SW, semantics for IoT. Also, some of us are currently engaged in Ontology Summit 2015: Internet of Things: Toward Smart Networked Systems and Societies: http://ontolog-02.cim3.net/wiki/OntologySummit2015. Maybe some folks here would be interested in this?

My slightly out of date bio is at: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LeoObrst. Probably I will tend to be a lurker, but will participate when I can and when it is appropriate.

Thanks much,
Leo

A quick intro on myself. I am currently work at Intel in the wearable group. I am responsible for middleware on devices that communicate to the cloud. I am part of the Intel(r) Edison team that delivered open source iotkit communication that provides device-to-device and device-to-cloud communication. I also participate in W3C DAP and was one of the early contributors/editors for some of the sensor specifications.

I am based in beautiful Pacific Northwest. I am looking forward in contribute to this effort.

It’s my turn to introduce myself. I am a member of the W3C staff and will serve as the staff contact for this group. I have been closely involved with Web standards since 1992 when there were just a tiny number of servers. The Web of Things is likely to take the Web to a whole new level with the predictions for vast numbers of connected sensors and actuators. W3C is in a unique position to develop standards for web technologies given our ability to bring together people from a very broad range of companies and geographic regions.

I am based on the United Kingdom and will be able to make both of the time slots for the teleconferences. If you have any questions about the W3C processes and systems, I will do my best to answer you.
