FYI - article: OIC swallows UPnP Forum, prepares for W3C standards push

The Open Interconnect Consortium was set up by Intel and Samsung along with Cisco and has recently published a suite of specifications with a focus on HTTP, CoAP and REST based access to IoT devices.

See: http://openinterconnect.org/about/

The rethink article indicates an interest in submitting the specs to W3C.

> The first products implementing the recently finalized OIC specifications should appear at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The asset transfer will be concluded by the end of this year. The next big challenge will be to submit OIC specifications as the basis of upcoming application layer IoT software standards from the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
