It was there, I can remember it and the SVN archive kept a record of  
it. Ian removed it when he added a registration process for class  
names, as shown in revision 422:

Not a very detailed rationale. It seems to me that the idea is to  
replace the profile-based microformats with a global list of class  
names to be maintained and extended on a wiki or something similar.
