RE: test page

I added a little language to indicate even more that this page is just to practice editing. I also added a mailto link for if someone thinks they did something "bad," though I can't imagine what they could do.

We shouldn't overthink this. It's nice to have a page where people can kick the tires a little and where there's zero consequence. My only concern is that we may have editing collisions on the page during doc sprints. That's a good problem, as we can talk about how to indicate the page is in use. :)

Thanks so much,

Eliot

If you think the example makes the page too complicated, feel free to delete it! If a visitor wants to try & add an example, it's probably enough to fill out the form fields & see how the output populates! J

I was thinking the practice page would just be hello, welcome, edit the page, here's some links to info. I just want people to practice clicking the edit button, making a simple change, trying out wiki syntax perhaps, and hitting save. They can look at history and revert.

I worry that a CSS property would be confusing - that people might think its a real page.

I like the idea of it resetting itself periodically. Then we don't need to maintain it. It'll maintain itself.

Let's not let this idea become too complex, however. We have many other more important things to do.

Oh, OK. I was thinking that the default content would be prompts to encourage the reader to edit the page. I added an example in that light.

I like the idea of resetting the page periodically. Maybe with a note that says, "This page will be reset at midnight EST." or something...

Hey,

As I already told Jen, the revised proposal looks pretty cool.

I think we should fill the Practice Page so it looks like a complete small CSS property (doesn't need to be an actual real one). Would also be good as a snapshot we can restore later on, if the page gets messed up.

Party on, Wayne.

Excellent, thanks. I've added the link to the practice page on the home page. And I added a bit of content to the practice page. Feel free everyone to add more content - whatever will help people get started.

Great idea!!!!

Done. http://docs.webplatform.org/wiki/WPD:Practice_Page is a CSS Property template, so it has some data sections, and people can play freestyle in the other sections.

Party on, Garth.

Subject: test page

When talking with Doug this week, he had the idea of creating a fake page, a test page that anyone could edit when testing out their new WPD account. You know, for new people who are afraid they might break something if they edit the live website. I think it's a great idea.

Could someone make such a page, in whichever place makes sense? I'm happy to fill it with some dummy starter content.
