relationships in Owl

I have been trying to figure out how to define a relationship between
two classes in Owl. I have come up with the theory that if a property
of a class has a range over another different class, then the property
becomes a relationship between the classes. Otherwise, it the property
has no mention of and has nothing to do with another class, the
property becomes the property of whichever class(domain) it was
defined on. Is this correct?
