The I-D, which expired:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-singer-font-mime-00

The only reaction I got on the IETF mailing list:
http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/ietf/current/msg33267.html

RFC 4288 defines how to establish new top-level types:
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4288.txt?number=4288

The existing top-level types are at IANA:
http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/index.html

The only font MIME type I am aware of is font-tdpfr as defined in http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc3073.txt
