W3C Web Crypto WG - take away of our 18th of Feb conf call

Dear all,

A take away from our call held last week - based on the provisional agenda indicated below :

- We discussed the wrap/unwrap issue in the Web Crypto API (low level), and allocated an action to Netflix (Mark) to update their proposal, so that the editor integrates it in the editor's draft specification (if agreeable).

- We discussed the import/expert aspects, and allocated an action to Microsoft (Mike) and Netflix (Mark) to review the most recent proposal and elaborate it to make it acceptable to the editors.

- We discussed the PROPOSAL: 'Close ISSUE-18: Should it be possible to perform CryptoOperations as a 'streaming' operation with URI semantics?' and agreed to CLOSE it with the reason that the feature will not be addressed (unless the current threat on incomplete block demonstrates it is relevant to discuss it again).

- We discussed the PROPOSAL: "CLOSE ISSUE-40: How should we define key discovery, noting asynchronicity and agreed to CLOSE this issue with the reason that the Key Discovery API is addressing it.

- We briefly mentioned that the extension by 6 months of our charter may put at risk the delivery of the high Level API. The chair and W3C staff mentioned that an extension by 8 months would be preferable.

- The dates of the next F2F will probably 23/24th of April in eBay/PayPal headquarters is at 2211 North First Street, San Jose, CA, USA. Book your tickets !
We did not address the topics related to secondary features, neither the way to progress on the maintenance of the spec with algorithm evolution. Both topics will be addressed during the next call.

The actual minutes can be found under http://www.w3.org/2013/02/18-crypto-minutes.html and thanks to Vijay for scribing.

Our next call will be held on the 4th of March @ 20:00 UTC.

Regards,
Virginie
Gemalto
Chair of the Web Crypto WG
