W3C Web Crypto WG - Take away from San Jose F2F meeting - april 2012

Hi all,

A take away to make sure we have the same understanding on where the group stands after that F2F meeting :

-          Figures : 24 participants, closed 14 issues, created 28 actions, our tracker is now pretty clean with 10 issues left http://www.w3.org/2012/webcrypto/track/issues/open

-          We agreed to integrated Futures in the Web Crypto API as a technology basis, but the final design will require review from the WG

-          We agreed to have wrap/unwrap as a feature risk into the Web Crypto API - which will be removed in case tests and implementations fails

-          We realized that Web Crypto Key discovery would require more time for discussion and created an adhoc conf call

-          We discussed the high Level API and ended with the creation of a subtaskforce in charge of presenting shims for specifi use cases (lead : David Dahl)

-          Test framework was presented and test activities will start in summer

-          BigNum discussion resulted in low chance to have it integrated in our deliverable, other opetions such as language evolution may be more relevant

-          New use cases were mentioned by several WG participants, to be integrated in our documentation with a clear separation between usecases workable with our current spec, and future improvement

Milestones for the WG

-          May : working hard on solving last issues on Web Crypto API and Web Crypto Key Discovery

-          June : next Public Working Draft

-          Summer : F2F in Berlin (dates still to be fixed, working on it) to start high level API, testing and certificate management

-          Falls : Last Call for our 2 main APIs
